Our intex pool surface skimmer is a great addition to any outdoor above ground pool. The skimmer helps catch leaves and debris before they sink to the bottom of your pool. Skimmer works with any pump with more then 500 gallons per hour. (It will not work with the intex 300 gallon pump.) The intex pool pumps they do work with is the 500 gallon pump, 800 gallon pump, 1500 gallon pump, and the 2500 gallon pump. Pool skimmer also works with most Sand 'n Sun pools and Aqua Leisure pools.

For all of those of us that purchased one of those round, bean bag looking swimming pools, with the inflated ring at the top, this is an outstanding addition to the pump/filter system that collects floating material at the surface (bugs,etc.) and spares the small paper filter the burden of collecting this material and requiring more frequent changes. This skimmer is a breeze to install and maintain. I HIGHLY reccommend this product.

(This is not a toy is in reference to the fact that this product is in Amazon's toy section.)This little thing keeps me from skimming A LOT! In fact I probably skim about 80% less now thatnks to this. One tip I can provide is that when you are done playing in the pool, take EVERYTHING out of the pool so debris doesn't get stuck on it and it can be picked up by the skimmer. Toys, ladder, etc. And don't just use the skimmer like I did when I first got it. You need to switch back and forth from the skimmer to the regular intake port so that the pump/filter can clean more than just the surface water. I kept getting cloudy water and I couldn't figure out why until one day I took the skimmer off, it was then I realized what I was doing wrong lol.Also it shoould be adjusted so the skimmer's basket and floating part are only 1 inch apart, more than that and it will float away. But it states the 1" tip in the directions.And I have found that cleaning the filter is required maybe only once per week now. Skimmer or not, the filter should be cleaned once per week to avoid porblems and keep your water clear. If you have to clean your filter every day as one said, something else is going on than the skimmer.It saves me from constantly having to go out and skim so it is a definate must have!

I have a 15'x42" soft sided pool (not and Intex, but the exact same principal and look) that I bought last year. The pool pump that came with the pool was pretty wimpy so I went online and purchased a much more powerful pump (1300 gph) of the same type. I bought this skimmer shortly afterwards.The skimmer works great if you have it set at exactly the right level in relation to the water level. I kept having problems with the skimmer basket floating up out of the skimmer housing when the kids would make waves in the pool... Come to find out the problem is a design flaw. The hook and depth adjuster need to be one continuous peice that allows you to position the skimmer housing higher than it currently allows...the skimmer just sits too low in the water even when it was adjusted all the way up....That is until I broke out my husband's hacksaw and cut off the very bottom of the hook where the depth adjuster inserts. I then slid the skimmer body up onto the bottom of the hook assembly, tightened the screw and viola!! works like a charm! No more air locking the pump and the kids can splash around all they want without the basket floating out of the housing.
