We have had our Intex pool for 2 summers now. I purchased it from a local retailer for $270, after using the instore $50 coupon. We did an intex pool with the inflatable rim a few years ago, so we were not sure we were going to be happy with this one. Our problem was never the Intex pool, but the filters that are supplied with these pools are just underpowered for the size they are matched up with. But, we did decide to purchase this one due to a few years passing and hoping they realized their previous problem. Once we got the pool home and started assembling it, it was easy...it took under 2 hours for 2 of us. We are on a well, so fill up took a week. My son enjoyed the pool for about 3 weeks then the problems of our previos Intex pool began, the water turned green. Did not matter what chemicals, or how much of them we used. So the 1st summer the pool came down half way through. Fast forward to this summer (2011)...We were contiplating putting the pool up or not putting it up. If we decided against it, we were joining the local pool (which cost $300 for the summer). We put our pool up, and within weeks it was turning green again!!! I decided to do some research online regarding the pool, and decided rather than spending the money for pool membership, gas to get there, and $$$ at the snack bar, I would look into better filter pumps. We upgraded our pump to the 14 in. sand filter, and our vacuum to the Deluxe Maintenance Kit. I did try generic brand battery operated & filter vacuums and ended up returning all 3. If you do upgrade your accessories, save yourself time, order the Intex brand. It cost about $220 to do upgrade our accessories, but it was well worth it!!!! In days our pool cleared up. Once I could clearly see the bottom, I vacuumed it, and we now have a crystal clear pool!!! AND it is staying that way!!! For the price of this pool and the additional accessories, it is worth it. However, not knowing up front that the factory supplied filter pump and vacuum were a waste caused alot of headaches and took alot of time and effort on my part....I do hope my review can be helpful.

I purchased this pool at the end of May in 2010. I put the pool on level ground (which is necessary). I then started to fill the pool. The pool started leaking from the bottom seam. The pool was filled about 18 inches at this point. It was the weekend, so I had to wait to call customer service until Monday morning. I explained that I just bought this pool and that it should not be leaking! They told me they would replace the liner but I would have to return the following items from the liner: 1. Intex Logo from Sidewall of Pool 2. Drain Area 3. 6" x 6" of the Pool Floor 4. A cut-out of the defective area (if available) 5. Inflation Valve (for Easy Set and Oval Frame)Once they received these items with a copy of my sales receipt, they would replace the liner. I asked them how long this would take. They told me it would take approximately 10 business days to process it and then they send it out to you which can take another 10 - 14 business days to receive. Are you kidding me? I would not get this until the end of June??? They said they do not ship overnight so I would have to wait. I asked for a supervisor and I was told that they would contact me, which never happened. I didn't want to go through wasting the water I already put into the pool so I repaired the area. I had to put a patch on the top and on the bottom of the pool. The patch worked for the summer, but I will never purchase another Intex product again!

Purchased this pool on sale for much less than the $600 I've seen online. It does need flat stable surface. Two people set it up in a few hours. We filled it up overnight. Chemical maintenance is fairly easy. We use 5 one inch chloring tablets in the filter basket once a week or so. We purchased a battery operated pool vacuum (Poolblaster Catfish) for further convenience and a solar cover to keep the warmth overnight. I rinse the filter out every few days and change it once a week or two. Our only complaint is that a valve handle has broken making it necessary to use pliers to open it. I'm waiting for a replacement. The ladder is lightweight, but adequate for our family's needs. If someone is very heavy you may want to purchase a little studier ladder. This is our second season with the pool. We have many rowdy tweens splashing and jumping around in the pool as well as a cat clawing at it and it has stood the test. Contraty to recommendation, we even left it up in our northeastern winter. I'm sorry the other reviewer didn't have the experience we've had. We'd love a real inground pool to cool off in but will be doing excavation in the near future. This has been a great small pool for the price until we can build our dream pool.
