Simply hook the Intex saltwater generator into the pool's water flow as directed, add the specified amount of salt, and the Chlorine Generator will do the rest. I was paying almost 50 a month to keep throwing chemicals in my pool. I could not stop the water from turning green from algae. I emptied half the water out of the pool and filled it back up, then added the suggested amount of salt for my 15x48 and waited. I did have to go out every day for about a week or 2 and rinse out the filter in the pump to take out the algae then after it was gone I didn't have to add any other chemicals. I'm going on 6 months and have not had to add salt or chlorine to the pool. I literally let leaves sit in the bottom of the pool for 2 months during the winter and the water stayed Chrystal clear. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

Before getting the saltwater system, we were putting $10 or more of chemicals a week in the pool. We had to check it every day to see if we needed to "PH Up" or "PH Down", add chlorine, and consistently had to "shock" the pool. My eyes had a reaction to the chemicals, and the children had to wear goggles to protect their eyes. We have saved more than we spent for the saltwater system, because we haven't had to buy all the chemicals. We LOVE it. Installation was a breeze. We set the system with a timer to run 4 hours a day, and have not had to shock the pool in the month that we've had it. When our children realized they could get into the pool without goggles, they were so excited! We put the required amount of salt (very inexpensive) into the pool and haven't had to add another thing. The water stays so clear that we don't even test it anymore. The time that we spend at the pool now is the time we are in the water, not messing with chemicals. The only maintenance is to clean the pool filter so the water freely flows through the saltwater system. We would NEVER switch back to chemicals. The saltwater system is the way to go!!

Easy set up, easy maintenance.I researched and read more than I care to talk about before buying this item.I have a 16' x 48" Intex pool. We were using quite a bit of chlorine during the summer months (we live in FL) with the heat and all & were having a hard time balancing the ph.On top of that, my daughter has eczema (very nasty & irritable skin condition) and the chlorine was making her break out something fierce.The set up was simple, took less than 10 minutes. The maintenance is next to nothing. The system has a "screen" that tells you what ails it. All the chemical readings have been where they belong. Could not be easier to use. More importantly, my daughter has had no more break outs related to the pool!!HINT!!! -- During my research, I found quite a few reviews that stated problems with using the recommended amount of salt to start out. I agree. Start out using about 2/3 recommended amount. With my size pool, the recommended using 120 pounds. I only used 80. I didn't need to add any for about 2 or 3 months, then the "add salt" warning code went off. I added another 20. Haven't needed any more salt yet.Have had in for about 6-7 months & have had no issues.Great product, would buy again.UPDATE... June 2012.Well, salt system worked great for first summer. Not worth the plastic it's made of second summer!Followed ALL booklet instructions, googled it and contacted customer support.Stopped working for no clear reason, now were back to CL2.Waste of $$$$$.
