Salt is so cheap. Easy to hook up and use. Costs less than chemicals without all the harmful skin irritation and all that clap trap.Read the instructions, do as suggested, and keep it clean with white vinegar. That is it. Highly recommended upgrade for ease of use, cleanliness, and functionality.Very pleased.UPDATE: 11.4.2011Problem. Stopped working with just a couple of weeks left in the season - a few months ago. Has a 3 year warranty, but you have to send it off to California for repairs. Hmmm. So shipping it out soon. Kinda heavy, kinda big, don't have the original box, so will need buy a box, and then there is the cost of shipping and insuring it. Will try to remember to update this so that the process of warranted, and hopefully hassle-free repair can be chronicled. I hope it is a good experience.UPDATE: HASSLE!So. I called them. They wanted to know what the last reading were on it before I would be able to send it back. It is not working, can't get the last readings. No one cares. Would also have to pay shipping there, and back, and, if they don't feel that it is broken, they simply send it back with no repair being done.NOT interested in going where they are leading. A one star now. Do not buy, unless you are willing to take the risk.

Last year we used chlorine tablets and I could not keep the pool clear. I bought this and it is so easy to keep up and my pool is crystal clear and no it does not taste salty. We love it! I will never have another pool without one.

We finally decided after a long search to change our 24ft above ground pool from clorine to salt system. We have been fighting with algee and spending alot of time and money on keeping the pool clean. Have had the system installed now for 3 weeks and the pool has never looked so krystal clear. All we did was check the pool for balance vacumed, added 6 oz of 60 algicide, and 7 bags of 40lb salt. In one day is was beautiful. the salt reads perfect. I think we have made a great choice so far. Cost of everything was about 250.00 about the same amount I would have spent on chemicals trying to get balanced. Oh ,the pool was a dark pea green when we started and I did put 1 clorine tab in the skimmer and 1 bag of shock 3 days before we turned on the salt system.
