If you're looking at this pool...get it. These pools have come a long way since I was a kid. I have to admit though, I didn't understand how it really worked until I got it. But after I read reviews from the other Easy Set pools, I figured if this lasted for the summer that it would be a good investment. This pool has been awesome. My daughter's 2, and the depth is perfect for her to stand and kneel, as well as learn to float and kick. We can all get in as a family too!So, how it works is the inflatable ring is attached to something like a big plastic pouch. The ring then floats on water. This has its downside though...it is possible to get stuck under the ring since the sides of the pool bulge outwards, unlike a traditional pool where the walls are straight. Also the underside of the ring and the upper part of the bulge get grimy...ugh.So after having this a few days, I decided to upgrade the pump to the salt water system pump. It's a 2000gph pump as opposed to the 580gph pump that's included. And the salt water system eliminates the need for chemicals. The included pump is weak though, and even if you don't get the saltwater system, I'd upgrade the pump. While it does pull stuff out of the water, it also spits stuff back in, as the design is incredibly flimsy.I'm still super impressed with this, and since I know I'll need a deeper pool next summer, I will come back to Intex for next year's pool.***Update -OK, I've had this pool all summer now and I still do not have any major issues with it. It's been great for us to have. I added a saltwater system and surface skimmer to the pool. I have nothing but rave reviews for the salt water system. Our pool have been generally maintenance free all summer, besides vacuuming and skimming. We add salt every week or so and the water's clear and smells great. I personally think the size of the saltwater system/pump is perfect for this size pool. I will say again the pump that comes with the pool is not adequate. We also got the surface skimmer, which has been a great investment.Complaints, I have a few. First, my underwater adventure mural on the side is fading. At the time, I wanted the clear intex pool, but it did not come in 10ft. This mural I paid a premium for, and for it to be faded so much is pretty disappointing. Second, why not way to heat the water? I get it, it's a plastic pool, but surely there can be some solution? On a normal summer night, the water is too cold to use. Third and last is teh spigot to empty the pool. Intex provided an attachment to hook a hose up to to drain the pool to your desired location, but it doesn't hold the hose very well.Other than that, if they'd keep the craptastic pump and allow you to choose your own, this would be 6 stars.****2nd UpdateSo, we've decided this will probably be a yearly proposition for us. At the end of last year, we had three patches in the pool. And in trying to store it for the season, we had to drag it to remove the water which caused the pool to snag on something, though we don't know if it was punctured. But the threat of weakness was enough for us to conclude it was best to just throw out. I don't mind because for less than a hundred dollars, we had our own pool all year long (well, we bought the Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater System and Filter Pump which was a fantastic investment).****3rd UpdateThis year, instead of the Ocean Reef pool, we bought the regular blue boring Intex pool because it allowed us to not spend money on a pump. So if I keep buying pools every year, my yearly cost is around fifty dollars plus pool salt. Once again, I'll say that the salt water system makes having this pool a joy. It literally makes the pool maintenance free. My pool is so salty, there's been no build up of grime on the ring. The skimmer (I leave my pump running 12-16 hours a day) is the only thing showing signs of dirt. The water smells fantastic and has some weird healing power according to my husband (he says everytime he soaks in the pool, his skin heals in record time).Get a skimmer. The skimmer is definitely meant for straight sided pools, but it works for this pool. The pool can not be over filled or the skimmer part will just keep floating off. Also, it doesn't work well while in the pool as you're splashing around and whatnot. My only gripe about this is that I either have to use it and keep fixing the skimmer as it'll float off/allow it to float off and use it improperly, or turn off my pump. I wish there were a way to quickly disconnect the skimmer from the pump intake so I can continue filtering water while I'm in the pool without the worry of the skimmer (hint, Intex person reading this). But for the times I'm not in my pool, it keeps it clean.

Well, this was my second attempt at a pool this summer. I tried the competitor's brand first. It was bad. That filter and pool leaked as soon as I put water in it. I promptly returned it and decided against that brand. I upgraded to this one a few days later and it has been fantastic. My 5 year old loves this pool! She can do almost anything she wants in it. It's not too deep for my 3 year old, but just deep enough for my 5 year old. It set up really smoothly, and it is much better made than the other brand. Leveling the ground before setting up the pool was the toughest step. The DVD that comes with the pool made it easy too (not that anything was hard). I will definately purchase an Intex pool again when we need a deeper one. We tried the 8 foot first, and it was too small. The 10 foot seems just right for my age children. We have room to move around and play. The last "trivial" thing is the ocean design on the pool- my daughters were so excited when they saw it! The 3 year old says, "best pool ever!" I guess that's the perfect summary of this pool. It is an amazing pool, and I'm happy we have it! I hope they make the ocean design on the 36" deep pool when we want to upgrade. What you need in the future: I could tell in the hot desert sun that I'll needed to use the shock treatment and chlorine before the slime builds up, so I purchased those chemicals and a test kit. That's typical with any pool. The only weak area with the pool seems to be with the filter. The filter that came with the pool gets some dirt out, but it just isn't powerful enough. I've used it for a week and there is a considerable amount of dirt on the bottom of the pool. I am looking to purchase another stronger filter immediately. I'm debating on getting the stronger filter (one for around 2,000 gallons) or investing in a sand filter. When I get a filter, I'll update this post to let you know how it went.

Second Ocean Reed Pool for us. We LOVE this pool! Big enough for kids to actually swim and for adults to feel like they are not in a kiddie pool. Perfect depth for new swimmers and older ones that just want to cool off.Only negative is it really needs to be kept on flat level surface.Pool filter is a must. Amazing how much "goop" it actually takes out of the water in 2 weeks. Keep spare filters on hand and change them regularly.
