This is the second year of use for this skimmer. It is holding up well. It is larger than the skimmer that came with the pool, so it doesn't have to be cleaned as often. I recommend it for your 18 ft. above ground pool.

Great Product for the Intex Pools. I have an 18'x4' pool and the skimmer that came with it was much too small. This one works great.

A skimmer is a must if you have an above ground pool in the country like us, with all the leaves and bugs we were continuously cleaning it with the net, now with the skimmer it sucks it all into it and we only have to dump it out in the morning and evening. P.S. it also makes a good place to put your chlorine tablet, which gets it circulated into the pool nicely. :One note on the bracket for the skimmer and how it attaches, It has a tendency to move on the top bar out of alignment (both vertical and left and right) and then the inner part of the skimmer will hang up and not work properly, you must check it and keep the bracket plumb and level to the water surface in order to work correctly.
