The Intex® Krystal Clear Saltwater System eliminates the need for dangerous, harsh packaged chlorine while dramatically improving pool comfort. The Copper Ionization feature reduces chlorine levels by 70% when compared to standard saltwater systems. Automatic self-cleaning cycle lengthens cell life and reduces the need for manual cleaning. Set operating time once and the system will automatically run on a 24-hour cycle. Water flow sensor and diagnostic read out with auto shut-off, alerts operator when a problem occurs and protects system from damage. Keypad locks to prevent programming from being accidentally changed.
The continuous introduction of liquid chlorine will ensure the continuous sanitization of the pool's water and will not allow the growth of algae. When the liquid chlorine has destroyed the bacteria in the pool, it reverts to salt. This means that the salt is continually regenerated in the process and the only loss of salt is due to backwashing, splash-out and overflow. It may be necessary to add salt to the pool water to bring the concentration back to the desired level of 3,000 parts per million

I was hesitant about purchasing this unit as a review I read somewhere stated there was no way to just use the filter pump only. WRONG....all you have to do it hold two buttons down for 5 seconds and on it comes. I have a 15 ft pool and was worried I would have to purchase additional pieces from the company I had bought the pool from to convert the lines as mine were smaller than the average Intex lines. To my delight there was a kit for both a larger Intex pool and a smaller or other brand pool. I dropped in 3 bags of Morton's pool salt and let it go for the recommended time. I love the way the water smells, so fresh and clean no chemical smell and no burning eyes. This was the best money I have spent on my pool in years!!! The only problem that I had in the beginning was that my pool was really dirty from the winter and I had to do enormous amounts of vacuuming and anyone that has owned any of the Intex products knows the filters clog very quickly and need cleaned often so I continued to get the Low Flow alarm. Make sure you have extra filters on hand, I use one for vacuuming and the others for filtering only!! As I said, love, love, love this product!!

We bought the salt water chlorination system for an Intex 20x10 above ground pool bought from Costco. After adding 150 lbs of salt (appox $50 from the local pool store), 3 weeks later it seems to be doing exactly what it's supposed to do. We check the pH and chlorine levels daily, and both levels have been close to perfect every time. The water is clear and great to swim in, with none of the chlorine smell that exists in other pools. So far, this has been great, but I'm still holding out complete judgement until the end of the summer.

This product is a salt-water pump and filter unit for an above ground pool. A very good one, as it is, but it is definitely not a toy.We purchased this pump and filter system to replace the pathetic little pump that came with the above-ground pool we bought. The salt water system has worked very well to keep the pool water clean and clear. The unit itself was very easy to set up and get going. All we had to do once it was in place was add salt.
