If any of you out there have one of those Intex, above-ground, metal framed pools...then this is a must have!! I have had my pool now for 3 years. Each year I have gone the chlorine route and had to buy expensive chemicals, add them all the time, check the water all the time, etc. But this year I purchased one of these, hooked it to my existing pump; followed the directions....And you just set it and forget it!! It sounded too good to be true...but it is true!! All you have to do is to push a button every once in a while to run the Boost cycle (after hard rains and about once a week-same as what you would call a Shock treatment with chemicals) and change the filter when in need. The new 2010 model even will give you a code if your salt level gets too low...or too high...or even if your water flow is low. You cannot taste the salt..no burning eyes, bathing suits dont change their colors..and the water is just as clear....I LOVE IT...and would highly recommend it. I can actually enjoy my pool!! It will pay for itself in the first season!!

You simpily must get this INTEX salt/chlorine generator system. I had read some of the negative reviews on these from other various sites from folks having extreme difficulity with these chlorine generators, and I was a bit dubious, and after much thought I did get one this year. I just have one thing to say..., I just don't see how that is possible for them to have all those problems. This system is almost foolproof. I have yet to have the 1st problem with this system once I set the timers "correctly" and added the correct amount of salt (if you read the directions it's idiotproof) Don't just "think" you know how to do it..., READ AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY!!!. Don't add just a little more or a little less. The generator will work like its designed if it is setup properly. The only error signals I ever get is the "LOW WATER FLOW" one which tells me it's time to change the filter. Not only does it produce chlorine, it tells me when its filter changing time.IMPORTANT NOTE: I did get the 2010 model, with the copper ionization, which I've only had to use once.

This system was easy to program and set up. However, after about 2 minutes of the green light being on and saying "working", it shut off and red service light comes on. Item is brand new out of the box. Totally disappointing. I have faith this is the right system to have but I'm one of the people who is getting bit on a bad unit right out of box.
