First off, I admit I was hesitant about buying this heater because of all the negitive reviews. But my wife told me to buy it and give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. It works better than great and I was shocked on how fast it heated up our pool. We have what we call our starter pool. It is an Intex 48inches X 18 foot. We just filled the pool about a week ago and already the pool has been heated up to 68 degrees and each day the temp raises a bit more. We just have one for now and planning on getting a second one soon to heat the pool up more. With that said, I have several tips that you should do to make sure it works just as well as mine. For your reading convience i created a check list for you:1. make sure you have a good pump/filter system. If you have an Intex pool with that sub-par pump/filter that came with it...I can't stress enough to get rid of it and upgrade to a better pool pump and filter. Not only will you have cleaner water, but it will heat better. if you want to know what kind of pump we have, it is a haward 3/4hp pump with a cartrige filter.2. keep up on all your chemicals and clean your filter regularly. The more efficiant the pump runs, the better it will work (i feel that this step should go without say but, sometimes the obvious things are overlooked)3. before you run your system, double and triple check all the hose conections. Any leaks will also cause it not to heat the pool right. a little side not, don't overkill the amount of hose that you use. use just enough to keep the unit in direct sunlight.4. in reguards to the complaints about the plastic cover poping off. I have never had the happen and we had it running durring a little heat wave where we got to 95+ outside and still no issues. I will say that I can see how it does happen to people because it takes some force to get it to pop in place. you will know that you got it securly attached when you hear and feel a click. You really need to firmly turn the cover to get it to lock.5. make sure you are running your pump durring the hottest parts of the day and when the unit is in direct sunlight. We turn on our pump at 8am and turn it off at 8pm.6. I hate to say it like this because it sounds like im being a donkey (you know what i mean), but use some common sense. I really feel that some (not all) of the people who wrote negitive reviews tried only once to trouble shoot it and or were really rough with it. Like I said WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES AT ALL with this product. If you are familiar with how you pool system works and keep it working properly and efficiantly all season long, you won't have any problems.

Purchased the AquaLivin' Solar Heater and it burst apart at the seams within a week of installing it. Also, the heater is designed with fittings that the water hose fits on. Water leaks out of both fittings where the fitting fits onto the body of the heater....should have been designed to where the fitting was molded into the body.The heater has a clear dome that goes over the top of the unit. On the third day I noticed that the clear dome kept popping off of the heater when the pump was on...when the pump was off it would fit perfectly. About two days later the heater burst at the seam. Luckily my pool pump didn't burn up when all of my water drained out down to the skimmer.If you do purchase one of these always keep an eye on the clear dome to make sure it doesn't pop off...this is a sign it may be getting ready to burst.The company was very good about sending me a replacement. I haven't installed the replacement yet.

I saw a lot of negative reviews, and I think most of them are probably a little unfair. The device will work if you connect it properly, have the right flow rate pump, and don't expect miracles.I'm a mechanical engineer, and the principles here are sound and will work for the right size pool.The pool I just bought (on sale for less than $220) is an Intex 18' x 48", which supposedly holds 5400 gallons. I also bought the separately purchased option of the salt water chlorine generator.This is July but when I filled the pool with cold city supplied water (our house is served by Lake Michigan)and we are in Chicago metro area, the initial temp was 66 F. We had some cloudy days initially, and ironically not as warm weather as we are used to seeing at this time of year. With the pool in the shade for most of the morning until noon, it doesn't get sun until after that. The temperature of the pool, went from 66 to around 70F on its own without this heater, and without real hot days. Now that I have the heater on today, its gone up about 4 degrees. I also just added this afternoon the 15' solar pool bubble wrap cover. That should hold the heat effectively, and in combination of the sun getting through the clear plastic, and this little gem of a radiator, I'm guessing the pool will get to 80F in one or two more days of this 85 to 87 weather. Not too shabby.The hoses that came with the pool pump for the Intex 18 foot pool work good with this, and if you bought the Intex salt water chlorine generator, there is one extra hose with that, and the right adapters, and along with one medium size hose this Solar heater provides, its a perfect and very easy to assemble combination. With this heater at this price, the Intex pool, and salt water generator, and lastly a $50 solar cover, I'm all in at less than $500. No chemicals, no expensive gas fired heater, 4- $5.00 bags of Morton pool salt, 5000 gallons of water, and wa la you have a pretty decent set up that works for kids up to early teens, and very nice for adults who get "hot" mowing the grass, and taking care of the kids all day, and their "needs" so you can take a well earned cool dip in the evening when the kids are all worn out and calmly playing their xboxes or Wii's.My only suggestion, and its a minor one for the mfg., is to simply supply two 10 foot hoses, instead of the ~2 foot and ~4 foot ones that require the panel to be so close to the pool pump set up.Other than that, folks, how can you go wrong ?The pool can be taken down during the winter, and re-set up each year in about an hour, and versus an inground that may well be nicer, this is at least a factor of 80 to 100 times less expensive. And its not permanent either, so if you get tired of dealing with pools each year, then you just roll out some new sod in the 18 foot circle you burnt out in your yard !P.S. The kids ranging from 8yrs to 15yrs absolutely love the pool. They'll get tired of it in a few weeks and then its back to school. $500 is less than a family of 5 would spend for one just one weekend of "fun" at six flags.P.P.S. It takes about 15 to 16 hours to fill this pool with water from the garden hose. I didn't see that mentioned in any review of the pool, and so I thought I'd give the tip in case you are looking to buy this combination. If you are thinking of the 15' round pool, I'd suggest you spend the extra $50 or so, and go with the 18' since it has better hoses, better pump, pool maintenance kit, and is about 15 round on the inside of the inflated ring at the top. (hence the purchase of only a 15 ' solar bubble wrap cover.)
