I bought this ladder for my Intex 12x36 pool and I do not like it.The BY-PASS part of the ladder is to keep kids from getting stuck under the water if they swim BEHIND the ladder in the pool. Wit the soft sided pool the item is extremely difficult to install and even worse to remove. I do not leave my ladder in the pool when I am not in it and the BY-PASS has to be removed to get the ladder out of the pool.When I bought the ladder I thought the BY-PASS was to lock onto the ladder on the outside of the pool to keep little ones from being able to climb into the pool when no one was around. I was disappointed that I misunderstood what it was all about.However, I did buy the ladder WITH the by-pass for a lower price than the ladder without it so I am not out any money for the product.As for the ladder itself, I am somewhat disappointed it that it is SO NARROW. However, I am over-weight so that may just be MY problem.SO, if you can get the ladder cheaper without the BY-PASS, do that.

. . . and this one is just fine, and like the pool itself (see my review of the 8'/36") a bargain. Although a 36" ladder would be a better fit for our own 36" pool, the 42" is for some reason almost $10 cheaper here on Amazon. You really do need a ladder unless you want kids (and short grown-ups) to make an impressive waterfall out of the poolwater since the EasySet pool doesn't have rigid walls. In our own installation, I skipped the silly "barrier" because MY kids, at least, won't swim under the ladder if I tell them not to, and anyway the thing is so lightweight that I don't think they'll be pinned and drowned if they do. Especially so, since we WATCH THEM when they are in the pool (if we're not in it ourselves!), don't you?

This ladder is larger than I expected. The ladder was recommended to be used with the 10 foot pool. The 10 foot pool is much to small for this ladder. The pool in the picture is a larger deeper pool and is misleading if you are interested in a smaller pool. I would save your money and pass on the ladder is you are purchasing a 10 or 12 foot pool.
